Closing Statement

After many years of working to create and support a thriving voluntary and community sector it has been decided that now would be the right moment to formally dissolve the Wiltshire Infrastructure Consortium (WIC).

WIC was very much a product of its time in that it came about as a direct result of the "Change Up" initiative under the previous Government which was in turn subsumed by the "Capacity Builders" programme. Pleasingly WIC was successful in winning significant funding under both schemes and this was utilised for the purpose of supporting a range of organisations throughout Wiltshire. In addition a much needed boost was given to volunteering, increasing knowledge and expertise in the sector as well as commissioning a number of related research projects.

Perhaps one of WIC's most important achievements has been the initiation of the Wiltshire VCS Assembly. To date six such gatherings have been held in various locations throughout Wiltshire attended by over five hundred delegates culminating in the creation of a shared "Vision Statement" for the sector.

The intention is to continue with Wiltshire wide VCS Assemblies and preliminary arrangements have been made to hold the next event on 25th September at the Corn Exchange Devizes. Further details will be issued in due course. (Please check below link to another website)

Pleasingly although WIC "is no more" a number of member organisations have successfully won funding to help transform the way the voluntary and social enterprise sectors work in Wiltshire and the there is a common resolve to continue work together in the future for the benefit of all
